Performance-Enhancing Teacher Contracts – M. Di Carlo

Di Carlo, Matthew. “Performance-Enhancing Teacher Contracts.” The Shanker Blog. October 11, 2010. Retrieved on August 18, 2011 by Matt Stowell.

The article studies student test data and shows that states which have teacher unions and contracts, like the northeast, significantly outperform southern states who do not have binding teacher contracts. Of the ten states without binding contracts only one had an average student test score above the median.
