Six Recommendations to Improve Ohio Teacher Evaluations – M. Bloom

Bloom, Molly. “Six Recommendations to Improve Ohio Teacher Evaluations.” August 17, 2011. Retrieved on August 30, 2011 by Mitzi Robinson.

This article discusses the impending changes regarding Ohio teacher evaluations.  The framework for these evaluations will be based on a system called the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES).  Six highlighted recommendations are included. Of these six suggestions, the board chair stated they will focus on how to incorporate student performance (this may be half of the teacher evaluation). The author does not address the additional funding needed for their recommendations or a definition of student achievement and the flaws with test data.
