VAM gets Slammed: Teacher Evaluation Not A Game of Chance – A. Cody

Cody, Anthony. (2012, March 9). “VAM get slammed: teacher evaluation not a game of chance”. Education Week.  Living in Dialogue.  Retrieved from: http://blogs.edweek.org/teachers/living-in-dialogue/2012/03/vam_gets_slammed_teacher_evalu.html

Education Week blogger Anthony Cody uses quotes from Bill Gates, Wendy Kopp, and Value Added charts and analysis created by Gary Rubenstein to show how value added should not be used to evaluate teachers.

If value added were an accurate way to show good and bad teachers we should see an upward sloping line.  We don’t because 50% of the teachers had a 21% swing in the VA scores between 2009 and 2010.
