Why are teachers so upset? – D. Ravitch

Ravitch, Diane. (2012, March 13). “Why are teachers so upset?”.  Education Week Bridging Differences.  Retrieved from: http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/Bridging-Differences/2012/03/why_are_teachers_so_upset.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+BridgingDifferences+%28Education+Week+Blog%3A+Bridging+Differences%29

Education expert Diane Ravitch writes about the attacks on teachers and why only 44% are satisfied with their job and that 29% of teachers are choosing to leave the profession.  In the Metlife survey teachers are more satisfied if they are treated as professionals, have a voice, have the ability to collaborate, have professional development, and have a high degree of parental involvement.

What is happening to teachers now across this nation is a disgrace. The attacks on them are a blot on our nation. Teachers and students are not different interest groups. Anyone who demeans teachers demeans education and hurts children.
